at the hp pavilion ahead of tomorrow's slate of games. >> the fans equal a win for san jose's economy. monte francis live in san jose where you spoke to downtown businesses with more on the economic impact. good morning, monte. >> marla, good morning. in 2010, this tournament generated about $20 million for san jose's economy. expectations this time around are just as high. as you said, college basketball fans from across the country flying into san jose for the tournament. hotels, bars, restaurants in downtown san jose are hoping to recover some of the money they lost with nhl lockout this past season. we're told right now many hotels in san jose are fully booked. when it comes to ncaa's impact on the local economy, there is a trickle down effect. the ceo of the san jose silicon valley chamber of commerce says when the hotels are booked, that translates to more revenue for restaurants, bars, and cafes. >> the expectations are always high. obviously the economic impact can vary. i think the numbers we heard from 2010 were about $20 million in economic impact. so whenever you can bring people

the suspects could have been linked to an armed robbery in san jose. here's the intersection where the drive-by shooting happened and police were led on a wild chase through three east bay cities late last night. our cameras caught the chase north through 880. police tried to pull the driver other in hayward for dui and reckless driving. but he sped off through san leandro and oakland. the car spun out of control between 580 between harrison and park and police cars slammed into it to box the car in. officers say people were throwing things out on the roadway. they never found the objects but officers did find weapons inside the vehicle when it finally stopped. >> they pursued the vehicle in oakland where it crossed across the center median. the three occupants were taken into custody from there. >> reporter: police believe those three could be tied to a shooting in hayward early yesterday afternoon. a man was driving with his wife and child at tennyson and kalaroga when he was struck by a bullet and taken to the hospital. he's expected to survive. a hayward police officer tweeted around mid

in the house when they went in. >> san jose police are investigating a pair of violent armed robberies last night, by the same suspect. the robberies happened when the suspect, believed a male juvenile demanded money from the first victim at 19 the at 9:30 and stabbed the 42-year-old victim who was taken to the hospital with a non-life-threatening wound. ten minutes later a 50-year-old man was approached by a similar robber waving a pocket knife at 22nd and san antonio. the second victim was struck in the head with an unknown object and suffered a minor injury. >> two pedestrians are recovering after a car hit them in san francisco. it happened at the intersection west portal avenue and vincenti, when a man and woman were in the crosswalk. one was critically injured. the driver stayed at the scene and police say some patchy fog may have play add role. >> an oakland audit accuses two city council member of violating rules, after the auditor found members illegally directed staffers to swing to a lucrative contract to turner group construction company that was for $2 million demolition projec
